You moved into a house with an existing home security system
Sometimes when people purchase a home, a security system is already established. All the components function well, are placed in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this example, you might see that you have to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to make sure there are no integration issues, and they might offer ideas on upgrades. It's a quick trip, and you can have your monitoring set up without worrying about any new alarms and cameras -- unless you add on.
The outgoing owners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up fee to make your life simpler. If the previous owners are moving to an apartment complex or retirement community, transferring the security contract may be an addendum of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your existing equipment with you
You may need to bring along your existing smart devices with you to a new house when you move. That’s fairly simple to accomplish, as modern components are wireless. You can uninstall each component yourself or call a Vivint installer to come and take down your devices. Then an expert will set up the same components -- and any additions you want to put in -- in your new house. And your home security contract will stay the same.
